My Muse

Today I spent time at my perfect place of Inspiration. Whenever I spend time here at this natural gem in creation’s jewellery mine, my mind feels cleansed and I can breathe again. It washes the week’s cobwebs from my thoughts and my soul soars as it sings.

This is my Muse.

Where is your favourite place to be inspired and refreshed?

What place makes your soul soar and sing with joy?

Atmosphere is so important to an artist of any type. Whether you are an artist of words, images or music – you often need to be recharged and re-energised to free the creative spirit within. My muse is not a person but it is a place.

Its name is Piha. It is a wild surf beach at the foot of natural rain forests on the West Coast of Auckland, New Zealand.

Tell me about your Muse…

I leave you with my day’s inspiration from my Muse…

Endless tides of Possibility under the clouds of fate and time…

  1. I love the coastline of NZ too – well, I love many parts of NZ. It’s a beautiful place and these photos prove it, Kim . Thanks for sharing! I intend zipping back across the Ditch one of these days for another visit. ๐Ÿ˜›

    • Sheryl – NZ West Coast is beautiful…When you zip across the ditch, we will have to catch up. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Thanks for commenting Debbie. Too beautiful a spot to keep to myself. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Absolutely breathtaking! Kim, I’ve always felt I could reach out into that ever moving creative stream, that air current that floats above each of us, when I get near water. It can be the ocean, a lake, a waterfall, rain, and yes, even a shower. I was totally distraught when we moved to the desert a few years ago and wrote NOTHING….didn’t make any jewelry either. We left there and we’re now living inland but near three huge lakes. I am now finding my inspiration in the mountains that surround us, and with my writer friends. We are all connected…..everything is connected. It’s such a joy to have found you and your beautiful Dragonfly Scrolls. (Penny)

    • Engride – Thanks for your lovely comments. I agree there is something inspiring about places of moving water…Although I have been to some beautiful deserts too and been very inspired. Although it is a different type of inspiration, the open spaces, the silence and the starkness of a desert also inspire me. But then again I find inspiration in any outdoor scene. Always been a person who loves being outside. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I miss the rainforest in Washington. Yes, Washington state…it is, as far as I know, the only non-tropical rainforest in the world. But don’t quote me on that one. LOL

To be precise, I miss the tiny little town I lived in in Washington. It was caught between the ocean (as long as the weather was clear I could see Victoria, B.C. from the dock), the mountains (Hurricane Ridge), and the Olympic Rainforest. It was one of the most beautiful and inspiring areas to live in.

I haven’t found any place quite as inspiring here in Idaho, though we do have some beautiful places around here.

    • Annikka – thanks for commenting. A rainforest in Washington, well that is something I never would have guessed. The place where you used to live sounds lovely. ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Kim, it’s beautiful… i would love to sit on that beautiful green mountain of rock and write all day long ๐Ÿ™‚

My muse… something i never thought of as an exact place… i usually sit at my picture window in the living room at my gardens and trees for inspiration…. I love it so much.

thanks for sharing yours with us ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Oh Denise, pictures unfortunately do not do it half the justice it deserves. I climbed right up to the top of that green mountain of rock. It is called Lion Rock because the front of it has a natural sculpture of rock that looks like a Lion’s head. Gardens are also magical places of inspiration. Love the sound of birdsong and insects as I write. But still for me there is nothing that beats the sound of the tide….it just makes my soul sing. Thanks for visiting and commenting and sharing where your place of inspiration is. ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Ah, the ocean, the waves that carry bits of every place in the world around the globe, the waves, licking your feet, washing away the worries of everyday, opening your mind to new horizons.
Having been born on a far less splendificus but still the shore of a large body of water, I’m always drawn to beaches and the cleansing effect listening to the waves has on my busy mind.
The waterfront always inspires me, other than that, it’s all in my head, but often photographs, music, scents that trigger memories and hit the inspiration button.

    • Judith – thanks for visiting and commenting. The ocean does indeed open up your mind to new horizons. As I gaze out at the horizon over the edge of the sea, I am struck by beautiful and inspirational a paradise we live in, this place called earth…who cannot feel inspired by it. ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. So beautiful! I’m jealous. Totally wish I could travel there…like NOW! LOL

Whenever I need inspiration, I turn on the music. It distracts my “internal editor” and allows me to let the words flow.

    • LS – travelling to inspirational and beautiful places is wonderful. I agree with music being an inspiration key too. Thanks for commenting. ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. You suck. And that is meant most lovingly and entirely in jealousy. The thing I miss the absolute most about NZ is the beaches. I grew up around Waihi Beach and Mount Maunganui, though the beaches around Wellington never quite measured up there’s still something hugely peaceful and powerful about the ocean.

I shall now covet these images, gracias.

    • ๐Ÿ˜€ Well I am glad that I not only inspired myself with these images of this special place but also inspire jealousy in a loving way…Feel free to gaze on these images any time you feel homesick for the NZ coastlines ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. Wow, Kim, What an amazing place. Awe inspiring. My place muse is where I live. When I look out of my study window at the hills and the river below, I feel at peace, that I’m ‘at home’.

    Love your dragonflies BTW.

    Dee:)

    • Isn’t it gorgeous….not far from where I live…Something special about natural surroundings, isn’t there?
      Thanks for commenting Dee.. ๐Ÿ™‚
